Gerald Durrell.( 1925-1995 )
A Gentleman. British zoologist, writer, traveller, also broadcaster, born in Jamshedpur, India. He founded the Jersey Zoological Park in the Year 1958, and was founder chairman of Wildlife Preservation Trust International in 1972.
" The Proudest Man On God's Earth. " That Day he left my " Studio 1900 in Beresford Street in Saint Helier." He had a spring in his step his imagination was flooding his thoughts. What were his thoughts on that day. Always about those animals trying to survive against man. I had dressed Gerald up in Safari Attire and taken his photo in sepia he was very impressed. When he was dressed up I bet he felt like ridding the World of the Assassins of his Gorgeous Animals. All trying to survive in this weird and beautiful World.
As God is the Author of Patience so the Devil is of Impatience. Remembering Humans who share the World with them but not Own it.
The following day he came striding in and ordered eight more for his Colleagues around the World in frames and glass a very nice gesture indeed.
quote:
Each mammal bird or reptile with which we are concerned has taken millions of years to evolve. Suddenly it is in peril of it's life and if we do not act quickly will be lost from the face of the earth forever. Gerald Durrell wrote on his subjects because he was bursting with inspiration on which he insisted it being done with flair.
VOTED: Greatest Channel Islander 2003.
VOTED: Southwest Hero 2004.
He created a Paradise called Jersey Zoo.
How relaxing it must have been to have the calls of the Tamarind Monkey outside your 16th Century House in 32 acres of parkland.
People can become fascinated by the communications of mammals and birds.
